Once you’ve started the game you will find yourself somewhere inside of the mad scientist’s laboratory, but beware: the scientist is not really mad, but joyful and quite friendly. The symbols used on Gold Lab are mostly potion bottles, or Beakers, as Quickspin calls them. They all have distinctive shapes and different liquids of different colors inside of them. The rest of the symbols feature precious gemstones, providing an inconsistent yet very cool mix.
The layout consists on a traditional 5×5 grid placed on a machine, with the friendly scientist standing at the left side of the screen checking out your spins and progress and becoming more and more excited as you hit the special features.
After a few spins you find that the gameplay is quite simple and very similar to most slots: you have to get at least three symbols of the same kind starting on the leftmost reel to hit one of the 25 paylines. These paylines are fixed and they each hold a value depending, among other things, of the symbols involved.
The volatility of the game is not very high, but it’s still medium to high. If you’re an adrenaline addict you might enjoy the game, but if you’re shyer and prefer lighter and easier spins, you might as well just give it a couple tries before abandoning and moving on to the next slot available.

What we did not Like
Gold Lab provides us with only one gameplay, fixed and working only on the 5×5 matrix. This is a very static gameplay, and fellow Sweden developers from NetEnt have spoiled us to long with multi-layered gameplays.
The fact that the only special feature of the game is that one triggered by the Scatter symbol is also a bummer. Yes, the feature works amazingly well, and there is also a Wild symbol helping you to get the most out of your bet, but we think the dynamic is quite simple.
If you’re into exciting slots, you might find this one a little boring. If you’re used to those slots with video game-like dynamics, you can also get bored quite easily.
As you can see, there is literally nothing else to do on this slot other than just spinning and spinning endlessly. This is the main objective and feature of slot machines, but lately a lot of developing companies have proved that it is very easy to incorporate multi-layered gameplays and mini-games, providing players with both the traditional ways and more innovative ones.
Worth playing?
Despite being a slot with a very basic dynamic, we do think it is worth playing. The layout is very bright and the graphics are quite energetic, so they will catch your attention for a little while.
