Vikings are no longer going wild, but berzerk!
We all enjoyed Yggdrasil’s Vikings Go Wild slot released more than a year ago. Featuring the best and wildest warriors from this folk narrative, this brand adapted a lot of elements from the Nordic culture and made an amazing video slot.

This new slot is very similar to that 2015 previous release, especially when compared in terms of gameplay and reel configuration. Vikings Go Berzerk is set on a 5-reel, 4-row configuration and it will feature 25 fixed paylines. Since the paylines are fixed, you will have to build a strategy in terms of bankroll only.
Now, the symbols featured on the reels include four of the Viking characters as well as some bronze, silver and golden Nordic coins. The former are the highest paying symbols while the latter hold lower pre-set coin values, meaning that paylines will be highly rewarding or not depending on the symbols constituting them.
The release date for this slot is set in January 2017 and so far we do not have much information about it, other than the fact that there is a Ragnarok Mode feature triggered by an apparent configuration of the Rage Mode that gets increasingly “higher” as you get winning combinations on the reels.
What we know about the special features is quite simple, and it looks like this Vikings Go Berzerk is just a revamp of the original Vikings Go Wild one. There is a Wild symbol substituting for all symbols on the reels except for the Scatter.
The Scatter symbol needs to appear three or more times in order for it to trigger the set of features. This special feature will consists in free spins during which the four Viking protagonists will have to fight off some evil sirens that live on the sea underneath the ship. The victorious Vikings that prevail over those sea creatures will turn into a Wild symbol and will substitute for others during this game.
We are not sure about the real and clear gameplay behind these special features, but so far it looks exactly like the Vikings Go Berzerk slot.
As for the payouts, theoretically it is possible to get an amazing 6000x your stake per payline. This is an impressive number, and given NetEnt’s tendency to develop slots with high RTP, we think that Vikings Go Berzerk will be highly profitable.
What we loved
We love the Nordic concept, and we loved the fact that Yggdrasil included a battle with mermaids in this slot.

As always, the visuals and audio effects are at the top of the game, making this game a very attractive slot for users to get immersed in.
What we did not like
We did not like the fact that this slot looks like some cheap revamp of the Vikings Go Wild slot. It seems like it will not be offering anything particularly new to the table, and that is kind of frustrating.
Worth playing?
To give you a final and responsible verdict, we will have to wait until this game is released next November 23rd.
So far, it looks like a decent slot with decent special features and gameplay enhancements, but we do not dare to recommend it until we see –and try- what it is really about.
