If you’re a big fan of Asian cultures and aesthetics, you will surely enjoy Betsoft’s latest release. Great 88 is the brand’s latest addition to the Slot3 series, meaning that there are high-quality graphics and animations featured in this game.
The first thing we noticed is that Great 88 is set on a 5-reel 3-row setting, featuring 30 paylines for gamblers to hit. The volatility is quite high, so if you’re a high risk-seeking bettor you will find it amusing and very exciting. If, on the contrary, you’re more of a shy bettor with a tendency to roll lower, you will be frustrated with this game in no time.
The symbols featured on this game include a jade sculpted frog, red and green bamboo sticks, a traditional Chinese knot, two dragons and traditional A, J, Q and 10 icons reshaped to look like part of the Chinese aesthetic.
Betsoft states that the highest potential win in this slot is set as high as 1 million coins. Of course the chances of hitting this very juicy jackpot are very low, so you will need to have a lot of luck in order to get this Giant Mega Win.
The main dynamic of this game is, of course, based on the 5×3 grid and hitting winning combinations after you’ve spin the reels. There are two special symbols (Wild and Scatter) aimed at increasing your chances of winning big.
The Wild symbol is represented by dynamic cylinders that, when conforming a winning combination, get re-established to write the word “Wild” on the reels while you’re redeeming your coin wins.
The Scatters, on the other hand, are represented by red boxes called Lucky Boxes, and you need to get at least three of them to proceed to the next step.

What we loved
Not only the visual design of Great 88 is beautiful and appealing, as it is the case with the great majority of Betsoft products, but the overall dynamic is very exciting and amusing once you get to know it a little.

The opportunity of having a 6000x multiplier is enough of an incentive to give this slot machine a chance, and it was probably the most important thing that caught our attention.
What we did not like
As much as there is actually the possibility of getting high wins, this slot is very volatile. Its high variance makes rewards almost impossible to obtain, and we got very frustrated after a few dozen spins with no significant wins whatsoever.
Worth playing?
Great 88 is a great Asian themed slot with a very volatile gameplay. It is up to you to determine if it is worth your time, strategies and money, but we do think it is a high-quality product.
